Founding Partners

Diane has been a leader, a consultant and a leadership coach in a variety of organisations. Educated as an engineer at Imperial College, London, she took her MBA at London Business School and spent the first part of her career managing change in technology-based organisations, lastly as VP for Airco (part of the BOC Group). In 1995 Diane joined Blessing White, a consultancy specialising in leadership, organisational and personal development where she was MD Europe until leaving to develop her coaching practice in 2000.

As well as her work in organizations coaching and developing leaders, Diane is the External Examiner for the MSc in Coaching and Development at Portsmouth University and is a guest lecturer to MSc students Fellow at the University of Oxford on organizational theory and change.

As a coach Diane focuses on building leadership effectiveness, working with individual leaders and leadership teams to develop a unique and authentic style that is both effective in meeting their immediate challenges and creates a platform for future growth. Key to her work is sharpening leaders’ self-awareness and increasing their understanding of the organizational systems in which they work. Diane coaches leaders to identify, commit to and deliver on the essential personal development that will have most impact on attaining their short and long-term goals.

Stephen has been a key figure in executive coaching in the UK for several years, first at HayGroup where he contributed to launch of Hay’s Executive Coaching Practice and latterly as the Managing Director of the Centre for Executive Coaching – the UK coaching division of
Thomson DBM.

For 15 years, his work has focused on what makes individuals succeed in particular roles by examining the requirements of the role and the personal profile, qualities and aspirations of the role holder. In this time he has worked with some of the world’s biggest organisations.

As a coach, he seeks to develop a full understanding of his client’s world and of the organisational priorities. He then works with his client to identify together areas for personal development that will make the most impact in the current role as well as in the longer term.

Mike has been working to improve the performance of leaders, teams and organisations for over 15 years - helping his clients to deliver increased returns and more rapid achievement of corporate visions. As “Mike the Mentor” he delivers keynote speeches on coaching, mentoring and leadership and also publishes the UK's premier coaching newsletter read by 2000 coaches and HR professionals across the world. He is on the faculty of The School of Coaching where he delivers coach training programmes. He also works with coaches and mentors as a supervisor to help them ensure the quality of their work and to support them in their professional development.

He has coached and mentored leaders, executives and professional staff across a range of industry sectors, nationalities and cultures. Previously, Mike worked with the consultancies Creative Dimensions in Management, OASiS and the PA Consulting Group. He has also worked as a psychotherapist and counselor.

Mike is a trustee of the charity Green and Away which creates convivial environments that transform people.

Ruth has worked in a variety of roles across many different organisations, both operationally and as a consultant. This breadth of experience, coupled with her studies towards an MSc in Coaching and Development, make her an effective and results focused coach who is able to work at individual, team and organisational levels.

Ruth has a solution focused approach to coaching that builds on and develops who the client is and what they want to do pragmatically and effectively. She works collaboratively with the client and, where appropriate, the system within which they operate. The combination of Ruth's business knowledge and experience, with her academic grounding in both coaching and psychological theory, give her the understanding, tools and techniques to approach each client in the most appropriate and unique way. This is underpinned by Ruth's coaching skills, specifically empathy and the ability to challenge effectively.

John Gilkes

John’s clients are Chief Executives, Directors and Senior Teams.



John has 35 years experience in a wide range of business environments, including Consumer Products, Business to Business, Manufacturing, Research, Consultancy, Education and Not-for-Profit.


After graduating with a Masters Degree in Physics and a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education, and following a brief flirtation with the world of Banking, John joined Unilever and worked in a wide range of Personnel roles, culminating in Head of Personnel for the international Research and Engineering Division. John left Unilever to become Group Director of Human Resources for De La Rue plc where he supported two successive Chief Executives during periods of major change.


In 2000 John joined DBM, and established a new service to support Chief Executives in career transition. He led the business to 70% revenue growth and personally coached more than 50 Chief Executives and Board Directors. In 2003 John was appointed Chief Executive of the Roffey Park Institute and led the transformation of the organisation over a five year period to deliver major enhancement to revenue and reputation. He stepped down in 2009 to pursue a portfolio of activities.


John's combination of experience gives him expertise as a coach and facilitator and a unique insight and ability to shape coaching and leadership development to improve organisational performance.
